About Amber

(Production Design & Management, Textiles, and Academics)
Amber Marisa Cook is currently the Coordinator of Design and Technology and Associate Professor of Costume Design for the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University. Design credits include The New York Musical Festival (2018 Best of Fest Award), Manhattan Repertory Stagecraft Festival, Flint Youth Theatre (Flint Repertory Theatre), Williamston Theatre, Tipping Point Theatre, The Performance Network, The Ohio Light Opera, The Black Hills Playhouse, McLeod Summer Playhouse, North Dakota Shakespeare Festival, The Oak Ridge Playhouse, Farmers Alley Theatre, Summer Circle Theatre, and numerous academic institutions as well as work as an assistant Off-Broadway and stitching for the Tony Award winning production of The King and I at Lincoln Center. She is the author of Digital Design for Custom Textiles: Patterns as Narration for Stage and Film (Focal Press, 2018) and a proud member of United Scenic Artists Local 829. She holds an MFA in Production Design from Michigan State University and a BA in Theatre from the University of Michigan-Flint. Her academic and artistic interests include textile design, design for new works, and ceramics.
